Fixinary is a DIY guide. It gives general guidance to help you understand and fix problems at home. It is not a professional service or a licensed contractor, and it can't see your home, check your work, or know every detail of your situation.
You decide what's safe. You choose whether and how to do any repair, and you accept the risks of doing it yourself. Check your product manual, labels, and local code before you start. If they differ from what Fixinary says, follow them.
Some repairs are dangerous. Work involving electricity, gas, water, or heavy equipment can cause injury, fire, flooding, or other property damage. Shut off power, water, or gas first, and don't go ahead if you can't do it safely.
Not sure? Call a licensed pro. Hire a licensed professional when you're unsure, when the job is complex or high-risk, or when code or a permit requires one.
In an emergency, stop. If you smell gas, see sparks or smoke, hear a carbon monoxide alarm, or see flooding or water near anything electrical, stop and leave if it isn't safe. Call 911 or your utility once you're safely away. Don't use Fixinary in an emergency. We don't monitor chats and can't call for help for you.
Fixinary may stop. If Fixinary detects a possible hazard, it may stop showing repair steps and tell you to get help. Treat that as a hard stop, not something to work around.
